When there are equal components on each side of the space, it is balanced.

Renaissance Architecture uses symmetry and balance

Our brain loves to have balance (and see grey)

We can achieve balance by having 2 small things on one side and one large one.

Often one large centred piece (eg dining table) or 2 evenly distributed items (eg 2 windows) will bring harmony to an environment, and allow for some random pieces to feel 'right'.
