When there are equal components on each side of the space, it is balanced.
Renaissance Architecture uses symmetry and balance.
Our brain loves to have balance (and see grey)
A calm ordered feeling is created when everything is balanced. Ideal for offices, studies and libraries where the brain need to concentrate on other things and not be excited by the environment!
We can achieve balance by having 2 small things on one side and one large one - or lots of texture balanced.
Often one large centred piece (eg dining table) or 2 evenly distributed items (eg 2 windows) will bring harmony to an environment, and allow for some random pieces to feel 'right'.
