LEONIE CAPTURED THIS IMAGE ON ONE OF HER EARLY MORNING WALKS AROUND THE BROADWATER, SURFERS PARADISE, QUEENSLAND
ANOTHER MORNING -SUCH A DIFFERENT SKY! LEONIE IS CERTAINLY EXPERIENCING SOME BEAUTY!
Leonie has been able to capture these seagulls on rocks.
The contrast of texture, value and shape is evident.
There is so many layers in Jeanenes image. The wall, the shadows, the leaves in the distance, the stem and the leaves in the foreground. The tonal colours, the low value and the shapes reinforce the feeling of quiet.
These images both show sand at the beach - yet each is so different!
Leonies image is looking down at a few footprints in soft sand - Jeanenes is of hundreds, if not thousands of footprints looking across.
Leonies has strong diagonal lines, while Jeanene has the calm horizonatl line of Surfers Paradise in the distance.
We should consider how people will use an environment, and where they will be observing it.
Jeanene has photographed the same door - yet each image is very different.
The first has the strong vertical lines reinforced by the vertical shadow. It is staid - "ready for action" like someone standing to attention.
The second image is taken at a slight angle- the lines are diagonal, and the diagonal and curved lines of the shadow of the palm add another dimension to the image. This is softer, it has movement.
We need to consider what effect shadows will have on our environments at different times of the day.
JEANENE PHOTOGRAPHED THIS SCENE IN WINTER - LOOKING AWAY FROM CIRCULAR QUAY, SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.
MANY PEOPLE PASS THIS ROAD ON THEIR WAY TO WORK, (OR ANOTHER MISSION) WITHOUT TAKING THE TIME TO LOOK UP AND EXPERIENCE THE SHAPES AND PATTERNS ABOVE.
JEANENE PROCEEDED TO PAINT 4 PANELS INSPIRED BY WHAT SHE FELT - THE REFLECTIONS, THE CONTRAST OF THE NATURAL LINES OF THE TREE TO THE STRUCTURED SHAPE OF THE BUILDINGS, THE USE OF AN ACHROMATIC COLOUR SCHEME REINFORCED THE COLD DAY, AND IN MANY WAYS THE STERILE ENVIRONMENT.
AS YOU LOOK FURTHER INTO THE PAINTING YOU START TO THINK OF WHAT IS HAPPENING BEYOND EACH WINDOW. EACH HAS ITS OWN STORY, YET MOST PEOPLE WERE CONCENTRATING ON CROSSING THE ROAD!
DETAILS OF THE PAINTING SHOW THE USE OF NEGATIVE SPACES. KNOWLEDGE OF MANUAL DRAFTING, WATER COLOUR AND CHINESE BRUSH-STOKE PAINTING ARE EVIDENT.
IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO SEE A PHOTOGRAPH OF THIS SCENE IN SUMMER!
Jane has offered some images of her sheep from Moseley Park. Great to see where the wool grows, that eventually ends up hand dyed and made into garments and decorator items.
On one of Stephens early morning visits to Miami Beach on the Gold Coast, he was able to capture the sunrise. We have been able to use this picture to demonstrate focal points and the subtle line directions.
Jeanene captured this image of the dramatic roof line with sunset behind. An excellent example of diagonal lines.
Leonie photographed a gate with vertical lines
This image Jeanene captures shows horizontal lines, perspective, and generally is a pleasant image!
Leonie was playing with light, shadows at Christmas time!
Leonie visited Sydney, and was able to capture the essence of whizzing through a tunnel! We have been able to use this photo in sections describing our lines, and focal points.
A DRAMATIC IMAGE OF THE BROADWATER ON THE GOLD COAST.
THERE ARE SO MANY IMAGES OF SUNRISE AND SUNSET! LEONIE HAS BEEN ABLE TO PHOTOGRAPH THE HORIZON IN ANOTHER DRAMATIC WAY.
